OVL · A READING WORKSPACE

Read a book.
understand it

Most readers close a book and lose the argument inside it. Ovl keeps the page central while the thinking moves: an owl that asks about the passage you chose, questions that test whether you understood it, and a schedule that brings it back before you forget.

Live now — email and password, no card.

  • Tens of thousands of public-domain titles, opened from the real file, not a stub
  • Your account only — notes, highlights and places stay yours
  • No summary theatre — the owl teaches the passage you picked
HOW A PAGE BECOMES KNOWLEDGE

Four moves, and none of them replace your reading.

  1. 01

    Read

Bring a PDF you may read, or open a title from the shared catalog. Your place is kept per account.

  2. 02

    Ask

Select a passage; the owl answers with that passage, your notes for the page and up to a dozen of your annotations in view — never the whole book.

  3. 03

    Test

Short questions on the page you are actually on. A wrong answer becomes a card, not a scolding.

  4. 04

    Keep

Cards return on a schedule tuned to whether you remembered, with streaks and quests that make the habit visible.

THE READING ROOM

Bring it to life, then make it yours.

A · BRING IT TO LIFE

One passage, four ways in

A one-breath idea, an analogy you can hold, the mechanism underneath, and a quick check — then a two-voice dialogue you can hear read aloud.

“In one breath: a price is an agreement, not a measurement.”

Like a handshake both sides believe they won.

B · TEST YOURSELF

Questions about your page

Three questions from the passage in front of you, with a reason for each answer. Misses become memory cards automatically.

What does a price measure?

The cost of making itAn agreement about worthThe labour inside it
C · REMEMBER IT

Spaced repetition, built from your reading

Cards you earned, graded honestly, returning when they would otherwise fade. Strength is shown per card, not per ego.

A price is an agreement, not a measurement.

D · SEE YOUR MOMENTUM

A streak you can actually keep

Experience for pages, notes, cards and correct answers; levels, daily quests, badges, and freeze days for the weeks that go sideways.

HONESTLY, AGAINST THE OTHERS

What Ovl does that a reader app does not.

Kindle files your reading. Blinkist summarises it for you. Readwise lets you revisit highlights. Ovl is the one that asks you something about the page you are on.

WHAT WE WON’T DO

Your notes are not training data.

Uploads, highlights, page notes and positions are isolated to your account. A private book is never sent to a model: the owl only sees the passage you paste or select together with your own annotations for that page, and only when you press the button. Uploads are not end-to-end encrypted, and we say so plainly rather than implying otherwise.

  • Per-account isolation for books, notes, places and cards
  • No automatic note writing, no silent uploads
  • A coach you can ignore — reading works without it

“The goal is not to read more. It is to be able to say what the book said, and where you disagree.”
